About Us

Welcome to Australian Pacing Gold – the standardbred sales company unchallenged as the most influential the Australian harness racing industry has to offer.

Australian Pacing Gold is the industry leader when it comes to selling and racing: it's the launching pad for harness racing's stars of tomorrow.

No other Australian standardbred sales company can boast a catalogue like Australian Pacing Gold's, emphasised year-in and year-out by our record averages and top-priced lots.

But there is more to Australian Pacing Gold than selling bloodstock. While other agents simply slam their gavel and carry onto the next lot, we take great pride in making sure your investment is given a chance at reaping a premium return.

That's why Australian Pacing Gold runs the richest harness racing series in the Southern Hemisphere for two and three-year-old pacers.

Graduates from our sales in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth now race for well over $1million prizemoney.

It's this after sales service that clearly sets Australian Pacing Gold apart from its rivals. Australian Pacing Gold is the only standardbred sales company that puts its money back into the industry in such a way.

Why? Because Australian Pacing Gold is managed by the industry itself.

Financially secure, Australian Pacing Gold has a board of management representative of the three States in which our race series is run by the host clubs: the New South Wales Harness Racing Club, Harness Racing Victoria and the Albion Park Harness Racing Club.

The financial base on which Australian Pacing Gold has been astutely-founded guarantees the existence – and success – of future series.

Australian Pacing Gold has already taken up the challenge to provide Australian breeders, owners and trainers with the best bloodlines the Southern Hemisphere can offer.

In 2001, Australian Pacing Gold sales reached a new level when the company offered yearlings by Northern Hemisphere super sires such as Western Hanover, Life Sign and Abercrombie.

In a bullish market, these yearlings set a standard for future sales and Australian Pacing Gold is delighted to be able to provide a marketplace where quality is unsurpassed.

Since its' inception, Australian Pacing Gold has left an indelible mark on Australian harness racing.

Graduates such as Weona Warrior, Golden Reign, Shakamaker and Smooth Satin have carried the Australian Pacing Gold flag with distinction by winning Inter Dominions – our pinnacle race.

What's more, they were purchases who were well within the reach of any harness racing fan.

Shakamaker, for example, sold for a mere $3500 in 1997 while Golden Reign cost his owners $8500. They are millionaires, and are now at stud.

Australian Pacing Gold has established a sound managerial network. We have appointed a co-ordinator allowing breeders and potential buyers a user-friendly point of contact.

Our co-ordinator, Marshall Dobson, is on call to help assist with any enquiry regarding our sales and race series.

We hope you find our new website a useful source of information and please feel free to contact us with your ideas and suggestions.

Remember, Australian Pacing Gold's objectives are simple.

We are here to:

  • Promote harness racing;
  • Encourage new owners into the harness racing industry by offering substantial prizemoney - obtainable in the short term;
  • Offer a facility where breeders can maximise their return;
  • Ensure harness racing has a rich futurity series, bringing the industry into line with other codes of racing and;
  • Allow purchasers the opportunity to secure the most potent bloodlines because vendors know Australian Pacing Gold's sales produce the highest averages and the country's top-priced yearlings.
