APG Prize Competition

The APG Prize Competition Quiz has now concluded.

The five winners are:

  • Emma Babiszewski of Narcoote, South Australia
  • Riccardo Conte of Brunswick, Victoria
  • Michelle Manning of Great Western, Victoria
  • Joyce Walsh of Tamworth, NSW
  • Emma Wood of Mildura, Victoria

Each winner will receive a sales day sustaining vouchers valued at $990 which can be used to sustain any filly that they purchase from the 2012 APG yearling sales (subject to the terms and conditions printed on the voucher).

The correct answers to the quiz were:

Q1 - On average, just over 30 x $100,000 winners emerge from the APG sales each year;

Q2 - On average, APG starters earn more than 3 times their purchase price;

Q3 - Over 95% of APG's Group One winning sales graduates raced as 2yo's. On average, these horses raced 10 times as a 2yo, winning on more than 4 occasions and earning in excess of $100,000 during their 2yo season;

Q4 - APG's Group One winners were purchased at the APG Sales for an average of $20,228;

Q5 - On average, APG Sales Graduates that have at least 5 two year old starts go on to have 62 career starts and earn in excess of $66,000 in prizemoney.

The following quiz relates to horses sold at the APG Sales between 2000 and 2007 (i.e. horses that were between 5 and 12 yrs of age at the end of the last racing season).
