Important Changes to APG Race Series & Gold Bonus Scheme for Yearlings Purchased at the 2013 Sales
Commencing with yearlings sold at the upcoming 2013 APG Yearling Sales, APG have made a number of changes to its 2yo Race Series and Gold Bonus Scheme, which are intended to make it more affordable for buyers, while at the same time significantly increasing the amount of prizemoney apportioned to the Semi Finals, Finals and Consolation Finals.
Commencing with the current crop of yearlings, the 2yo Race Series will be conducted as a single round of $10,000 heats, leading into 2 x $30,000 Group Three Semi-Finals. Horses will then either advance into a $322,000 Group One Final or a $50,000 Group Two Consolation Final.
To be eligible for the race series, buyers will have the option of making a single upfront payment of $2,200, or they may opt for a four stage system which sees them pay $550 on sales day, $550 on 1 June, $550 on 1 September, and a final payment of $1,100 on 1 December (i.e. total cost of $2,750).
In addition to the race series, owners of eligible horses that win a two-year-old race will receive an APG Gold Bonus Certificate that can be redeemed at the APG yearling sales to receive $2,000 off the purchase price of a colt, $4,000 off the purchase price of a filly, or they can use the certificate to fully sustain their next APG yearling purchase.
