Outstanding Quality on Offer at both Melbourne Premium & Sydney Premium Sales

APG Announces List of Yearlings for 2012 Premium Sales

 

Yearling buyers will be counting down the days to the 2012 APG Yearling Sales, after APG today released the list of horses that have been selected for each of its Premium Sales in 2012.

 

For the first time, APG will be conducting two Premium Sales in 2012 – one in Melbourne and one in Sydney.  Both sales are limited to 45 yearlings, with those yearlings having been selected based on a combination of pedigree, conformation and type.

 

APG’s General Manager, David Boydell, said that he was delighted with the quality of both Premium catalogues.

 

“Beginning with the Melbourne Premium catalogue, the first thing that strikes you is the number of yearlings that are out of quality racemares.  In total, 35 of the 45 yearlings selected come from winning dams, with those winning dams boasting combined earnings in excess of $5.3million.  That equates to average earnings for each of the 35 winning dams of over $150,000”.

 

“Not only is the catalogue stacked with the progeny of successful racemares, but it is also stacked with successful producers.  Of the 31 dams that have at least one foal aged 3yo or older, 27 of them have produced winners, with those winners including horses of the calibre of Lombo Pocket Watch, Sushi Sushi, Villagem, Kept For Pleasure, Saab and Sir Galvinator, to name but a few”.

 

When asked about the Sydney catalogue, Mr Boydell was equally positive.

 

“APG could not be happier with the strength of the entries for the inaugural Sydney Premium sale.  Like its southern counterpart, over three-quarters of the yearlings hail from race winning dams, including Group One winning mares such as Dance Of Life, Threepence and The Kindly One”.

 

“In addition, the Sydney Premium will feature half brothers and sisters to millionaires such as Blacks A Fake, Fleur de Lil and Miss Galvinator, as well as other star performers, including I Am Sam, Magic Operative, For A Reason, Runaway Red, Thats Mister Ali, Smarty Jones, Protikori, and Marshall Law”.

As usual, all the leading sires are represented across both premium sales, headed by Art Major with 24 representatives and Grinfromeartoear with 16.  Other sires with multiple representatives include Modern Art (7), Jeremes Jet (5), Mach Three (5), Somebeachsomewhere (5), Bettors Delight (4), Four Starzzz Shark (4), Rocknroll Hanover (4), American Ideal (2), Artistic Fella (2), Christian Cullen (2) and Mr Feelgood (2).
