EXCITING NEW FORMAT FOR APG’S RACE SERIES


APG owners, vendors and trainers were recently asked to vote on the future format of APG’s Race Series and the results are in!

A massive 75% of respondents voted in favour of shifting away from the “National Race Series” format that has traditionally applied to the APG Race Series, and instead adopt a “State Based” system which will see each individual State host its own separate 2yo, 3yo & 4yo finals.

Based upon our participants overwhelming support for the switch to a State Based system, APG’s Board have adopted the majority view and have implemented an exciting new format that offers more prizemoney, more group races and more earning opportunities than ever before.
 

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEW SYSTEM
 

  • Series offers over $500,000 of additional prizemoney versus old format (Prizemoney will exceed $2.4million).
  • Sustaining fees remain unchanged – Choice of either a one-off Series fee of $2,750 payable on Sales Day, or four-step process of $700 on Sales Day, $700 on 1 June, $700 on 1 September & 1,250 on 1 December.
  • Series features 2yo, 3yo & 4yo Finals
  • NSW, QLD, VIC & WA will each host their own night of APG Finals
  • Separate Colts & Fillies Divisions in all States
  • Simple qualification procedures:
    • Each State will host its own round of qualification heats
    • All fully sustained horses will be guaranteed a start in the heats (subject to meeting the local rules of racing in the relevant state e.g. NSW horses must have at least one start prior to contesting a heat).
    • Best placed horses from the heats will progress through to the finals in the relevant State.
  • Horses will be eligible to contest an APG Race Series in either the State where the horse was purchased or in the State where the horse is trained (refer Terms & Conditions for full details).
  • Series features a total of 32 Group Races across the 2yo, 3yo & 4yo age groups:
    • 8 x Group One Finals
    • 12 x Group Two Finals
    • 12 x Group Three Finals
  • Greater spread of prizemoney – over 100 APG horses per age group will compete in a Group One, Group Two or Group Three APG Final each year.

BRISBANE SALES RACE & WA SALES CLASSICS CONTINUE TO APPLY


In addition to APG’s $2.4million+ race series (as set out above), fully sustained Brisbane Sale horses will be eligible to contest Albion Park’s $100,000 2yo Brisbane Sales Race, whilst sustained Perth Sale horses will be eligible to contest the WA Sales Classics, featuring $100,000 2yo Finals and $50,000 3yo races.
