In a spectacular showcase of talent, Australian Pacing Gold (APG) sale graduates triumphed in feature races across two different states last weekend. We here at APG want to celebrate the standout performances from horses that have passed through its sales ring.

Leap To Fame Dominates Queensland Cup

Leading the charge was the outstanding champion pacer, Leap To Fame, a stellar $47,500 purchase at the APG Sydney sale in 2020. The Bettor’s Delight four-year-old entire showcased his dominance by leading most of the way and convincingly finishing over a top-tier field in the Group 2 $53,040 Queensland Cup at Albion Park. With this victory, Leap To Fame extended his remarkable record to 35 starts, with 25 wins and eight placings, accumulating an impressive $1,462,782 in stakes. Bred by long-time APG client Paul Kahlefeldt of Redbank Lodge Standardbreds, Wagga, Leap To Fame has emerged as the nominal favorite for the upcoming Inter Dominion Championship next month.

Iron Clad Overcomes Odds in Burwood Stud 2YO Classic

On the same race card, Iron Clad, a $40,000 acquisition at the APG Sydney sale in 2022, showcased his resilience by overcoming a challenging barrier draw and navigating a wide passage to claim victory in the Burwood Stud 2YO Classic. This Art Major colt, bred by John Evans, demonstrated his racing prowess by securing his third win in just nine starts, accumulating a noteworthy $81,731 in earnings. Both Leap To Fame and Iron Clad share ownership under the guidance of Brisbane businessman and harness racing benefactor Kevin Seymour and his wife, Kaye. The duo is skillfully trained and driven by the talented Grant Dixon.

Delightful Tammy Triumphs in South Australian Oaks

Completing the remarkable APG treble was the smart three-year-old filly Delightful Tammy, who exhibited her prowess by sitting parked throughout the South Australian Oaks at Globe Derby Park. Secured for $32,000 at the APG Melbourne sale in 2021 by the Cormack family of Adelaide, this Bettor’s Delight miss was bred by Bruce and Vicki Edward of Durham Park Standardbreds, Durham Lead near Ballarat. With a total winnings tallying $93,703, Delightful Tammy further underscores the quality of horses that pass through the APG sales.

The weekend’s triumphs of Leap To Fame, Iron Clad, and Delightful Tammy in races across Queensland and South Australia serve as a testament to the caliber of horses bred and sold through the Australian Pacing Gold Yearling Sales.
