Impressive Performances in NSW Breeders Challenge Semi-Finals
The stakes were high, and the excitement was palpable as the Semi-Finals of the NSW Breeders Challenge unfolded at Menangle. The Australian Pacing Gold (APG) Graduates left their mark with two super impressive performances that had fans on the edge of their seats. In race 7, Nathan Street, a 2-year-old colt, and in race 9 Ideal In Dreams, a 4-year-old mare, showed the world that they are not just graduates but true contenders.
Nathan Street: A Rising Star
Nathan Street, a striking 2-year-old colt, made his mark with a remarkable performance. Sold for $60,000 at the 2022 Sydney APG Yearling Sale, he was a head-turner as a yearling. Now he’s proving to be both stunning and incredibly fast. Bred by Lazarus from Lettucesomewhere and consigned by Steve Harris from Junee, Nathan Street’s journey has been nothing short of spectacular.
In the Semi-Finals, Nathan Street left no room for doubt about his potential. He raced to a rating of 1.52, with a solid last quarter of 26.9. Credit must be given to the talented driver Jack Trainor for his fantastic drive, guiding Nathan Street to victory. As the Finals approach on the 29th of October at Menangle, Nathan Street will undoubtedly be a strong contender and a fan favorite.
Ideal In Dreams: A Dream Come True
Ideal In Dreams, a 4-year-old mare, is another APG Graduate who stole the spotlight. She’s a filly by Warrawee Needy and from Milias Ideal, and was purchased for $11,000 at the APG Yearling Sales. Under the guidance of trainer David Thorn, Ideal In Dreams has blossomed into a powerhouse with winnings nearly totaling $150,000.
In her recent race, Ideal In Dreams showcased her incredible talent. As one commentator put it, “She ran the arms off the clock up the straight” running her last quarter in 25 and change. Jack Trainor, once again, was in the driver’s seat, guiding her to a resounding victory. As we look ahead to the Finals, Ideal In Dreams is sure to be a top contender in her category.
More Success for APG Graduates
But the night at Menangle wasn’t just about Nathan Street and Ideal In Dreams. Other APG Graduates also left their mark. Ripp, in race 1, and Swayzee, in race 6, both delivered impressive performances and clinched victories. These horses exemplify the quality of horses that is on offer at the APG Yearling Sales.
The future looks promising for these APG Graduates, and the racing world eagerly awaits the NSW Breeder Challenge Finals to see who will rise to the top and etch their name in the history of Menangle. The Semi-Finals have already proven one thing… When it comes to producing winners, APG graduates are in a league of their own.
