The team at Tumby Park weren’t going to sit around until details of when APG were about to call entries for the 2022 National Mixed Sale, they got in first.  With what could be the greatest selection of going horses and broodmares mares in foal ever presented in the Southern Hemisphere, APG and especially their loyal buyers should be in for a restocking bonanza.

Team Tumby didn’t hesitate in coming forward to support the sale that’s so beneficial to the future of the sport going forward.

Tumby Park took the view that they would offer some of the very best racing prospects from their camp and by doing this it would ensure this sale would continue to grow and provide something extremely special for those looking at trading into better horses for the years to come.

When we spoke to Scott Whitton head of the team (when Jodie isn’t around) he said “ clearly we are really keen to back this APG sale with entries we think have the potential to do a fantastic job for buyers that support our horses. With more horses than we would wish to count, we just wanted to trim the numbers a touch and thought this could be a win – win for all parties involved. We also are of the belief you must offer some of the very best horses in your stable as a sign of good will to all the interested buyers “.

The first great example of this is the Group 1 winning My Ultimate Levi winner of $75,063 to date. With a career winning rate of 19% and 56% for placings, this is a horse that has upside potential written all over him.

Another tantalising prospect would have to be My Ultimate Jacko, 2nd ( behind what could be the best 2YO in the country, Jewel Melody) just last weekend in the Group 1, APG QLD SALES Races worth $156,000. This is the same horse won the Group 2 APG Gold Bullion in 1:56.9 back in April.

My Ultimate Jacko (Art Major colt) is out of Colada Belle the Presidential Ball sister of Blacks A Fake. A Hall of Fame member and winner of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Inter Dominion Championship.

As a 10 year old he recorded his lifetime best mile rate of 1:53.7, and he built an impressive resume during his career.

He became the leading Australasian standardbred pacer of all time at the end of 2008 with winnings of $3.084 million, and his overall achievements include eleven Group 1 races staged on six different tracks across Australia. In 105 career starts, Blacks A Fake won a staggering 72 races and was placed in a further 24 starts for total career earnings of $4,575,438 – a remarkable effort not equalled by any other Australasian pacer to date.

With close to 10 exciting racing prospects from Tumby Park on offer, Scott is more than happy to talk to keen buyers about how he sees these youngsters will progress going forward.

Anyone involved with harness racing that has an appetite and love for well-bred broodmares, in foal to a very commercial sire and ready to foal down in 2022, should take the time to look at the incredibility strong Tumby Park draft of mares.
