Three key figures in Western Australian breeding and racing, Ross Waddell, Kevin Spurr and Jeff Roberts, have thrown their weight behind the our Winter Mix Online Sale coming up this weekend.

Waddell, one of the State’s leading syndicators and owners, has entered two royally bred broodmares in Princess Major (Lot 64 by Art Major) and Gaylee’s Delight (Lot 83 by Bettor’s Delight).

Both belong to very successful New Zealand maternal families.

Princess Major, who won four races at two and three, figures as the dam of the multiple WA Group and Listed placegetter Grevis ($175,144). She is a half-sister to the APG Gold Bullion winner Rocket City ($267,982) and the dual WA Sales Classic victor Red Hot Roxy ($162,550).

A NZ Southland Oaks winner, Gaylee’s Delight has left four winners from five foals headed up by this season’s outstanding WA three-year-old Wake Up Geoff ($153,332), whose list of successes include the $100,000 APG Sales Classic, $50,000 Caduceus Club Classic and the Westsired Classic.

Spurr, who conducts Spurrs Stud at Wagin, has nominated five yearling fillies by the successful Somebeachsomewhere stallion Goodtime Sammy, the sire of 14 winners from 17 starters from only 43 foals of racing age.

The draft includes a filly out of Our Tabletop Dancer NZ (Lot 27), she a daughter of the American-bred mare Watch Your Step, the dam of the multiple WA Group winner and WA Pacing Cup and Fremantle Cup placegetter Northview Punter ($547,639).

Others from the Spurrs Stud entry are a filly out of a sister to the Australian 3YO Filly of the Year Nemeeshar ($331,230), a half-sister to the Group 3 placegetter Sunshine Swift ($83,499) and the first foals of the WA Sales Classic placegetter Temuka’s Girl (Lot 32) and the young Huntsville mare Racyville (Lot 30).

Roberts, the managing owner of Westover Agistment, Benger, has entered three yearling fillies – two by Renaissance Man and one by Captain Ahab.

Lot 31, the Renaissance Man filly out of the $130,000 winning Mach Three mare Talk About Mach, ranks as a sister to the WA Sales Classic runner-up Songkran, while Lot 29, the Lovely Larnie filly, is from a half-sister to six 2:00 winners including the WA Golden Slipper winner Aussie Reactor ($616,425) and the Binshaw Classic victor Aussie Delight ($124,452).

The Captain Ahab filly (Lot 25) appeals as a fine dual purpose prospect, being a half-sister to five winners including the Group 2 placegetter Four Starzzz Forsa ($223,593) and a close relative of It Is I (Vic. Legends), Tardelli (Bathurst Gold Crown), Armida (Bathurst Gold Tiara), La Speranza (Seymour Nursery) and Caesar Augustus (NSW Sapling).

Bidding opens on Sunday, August 16 at 12 noon and closes on Monday, August 17 at 5pm. For more information on these and other Lots, check the catalogue and register as a bidder today!
