Leap To Fame joined a select list of Inter Dominion winners sold by Australian Pacing Gold when he scored a barnstorming, track record-breaking win in the $530,000 Grand Final at Albion Park.

The Bettor’s Delight four-year-old, who made a clean sweep of the series, joins Smolda (2016), Smooth Satin (2002), Shakamaker (2000), Golden Reign (1995) and Weona Warrior (1994) as Interdom champions to graduate from the APG sales.

Offered by Paul Kahlefeldt’s Redbank Lodge Standardbreds at the APG Sydney sale in 2020, Leap To Fame was knocked down to leading Brisbane owner and harness racing benefactor Kevin Seymour for $47,500.

The $286,000 ID winner’s cheque boosted Leap To Fame’s stake earnings to a lofty $1,797,382, the result of 29 wins and eight placings from 39 starts. Seven of his successes have been at Group 1 level, including three Derby classics and he was awarded 3YO of the Year honours in 2022.

A Bettor’s Delight three-quarter brother-in-blood to Leap To Fame will be offered as Lot 161 at the APG Melbourne sale at Oaklands Junction on Sunday, February 4. The bay colt is out of the Art Major mare Left For Dead, a sister to Leap For Fame’s dam Lettucereason.

Swayzee, a half-brother by Rock N Roll Heaven to Leap To Fame and who finished third in the ID Final, was sold for $30,000 at the APG Sydney sale in 2019. He has earned $899,314.

APG Perth sale graduates Tricky Miki and Wonderful To Fly quinellaed the Group 1 $200,000 Golden Nugget at Gloucester Park last Friday night.

Tricky Miki, who was bred by Steve Johnson, was bought by clients of Justin Prentice for $57,500 at the sale. The four-year-old son of Always B Miki and Harriet Elisabeth has banked $482,721 from 11 wins and nine placings highlighted by successes in the WA Golden Slipper, WA Derby, Westbred 3YO Classic, Western Gateway and Golden Nugget.

Wonderful To Fly (Fly Like An Eagle-Not Now Delilah) was offered by Kevin and Annette Charles but failed to reach her reserve of $10,000 at the same sale. She has now earned $734,510 and is ranked one of the best racemares ever produced in Western Australia.

Siblings to Tricky Miki and Wonderful To Fly will go under the hammer at the APG sale at Magic Millions on Sunday, March 3. A full brother to Tricky Miki is catalogued as Lot 451, while a Tall Dark Stranger half-brother to Wonderful To Fly is listed as Lot 507.
