Australian Pacing Gold has announced that it will be restricting the number of yearlings on sale at its Sydney and Melbourne sales in 2024.

APG Chairman Robert Marshall indicated that a maximum of 150 yearlings will be catalogued for each sale.

“The APG Board has given this matter a lot of consideration,” Marshall said. “150 is an ideal number of yearlings to offer at any sale. We are very aware of the dynamics at play on sales day and conscious of buyer fatigue and other factors which may affect the tempo and energy of the sale experience.”

In announcing the catalogue limit, Marshall also indicated that it will inevitably mean that vendors may need to find alternative sale arrangements for some of their yearlings.

“Lance Holberton and John Coffey on behalf of APG will be assisting breeders and vendors to assess the marketability of their yearlings so that APG’s return to selling in Sydney and Melbourne can be as rewarding as possible for all participants.”

Applications for APG’s 2024 Yearling Sales will open on the APG Website on 1st July and continue until 31st July 2023.

The NON-SALE entry option will not be offered by APG in 2024.
