Meanwhile APG’s General Manager, Anthony Essex, said his company was proud to support the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club via this week-long online auction.

“We’re excited to host this tender-style auction, where bidders will have the chance to secure top stallion services, all while contributing to the revitalization of the club. Eight generous studs have each donated a service for one stallion, allowing us to offer these valuable stallion services without any fees or commissions.

“This means that every dollar raised will go directly back into the harness racing industry. Bidders can submit their best offers. Throughout the week, under-bidders will be notified if they have been outbid, giving them the opportunity to increase their bids and stay in the running,” Essex said.

“We invite you to participate in this special event and help support the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club as it gets back on its feet. Thank you for your continued commitment to the industry,” the GM added.

Essex said the online auction is for a stallion service fee only.

“The service is for the 2025/2026 breeding season otherwise agreed by the stud. No GST is applicable to the tender price. The highest bidder above the reserve price of 70 per cent will be the successful auction winner.

“If the reserve price is not reached APG on behalf of the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club will negotiate to achieve the reserve price. Missed services need to be followed up with the stud involved. All proceeds will go to the Darling Downs Harness Racing Club on behalf of the supplying studs. All other costs (e.g. agistment, vet fees, semen transport etc) will be the responsibility of the winning bidder,” Essex said.

“Offers are still open for our Winter Mix Sale with plenty of broodmares still available. People can pick up a broodmare and get a cheap service straight away. Thank you for your continued commitment to the industry,” he added.
