Colt Thirty One, who is standing his fourth season at Egmont Park Stud – his first crop are now yearlings – is the greatest Australian-bred stake winning pacer by the champion sire Mach Three available to breeders in this country. He won a total of $1,087,535.
His first crops are a splendid advertisement for him and as two-year-olds next season should add some interest to the juvenile scene. A yearling colt by Colt Thirty One sold at the last Redcliffe Yearling Sale for the record price of $55,000.
It can rightly be claimed of Colt Thirty One that he is one of the best bred and best performed horses ever foaled in Queensland.

Mach Three, sire of Colt Thirty One, was a leading sire of two and three-year-olds in Australia, New Zealand and North America and his progeny have earned more than $110 million.
A champion pacer himself, with a record of 1:49, Mach Three’s major victories were the $1.1 million Metro Pace, the $1 million Meadowlands Pace and the Oliver Wendell Holmes and he ran up a tally of $2,376,700 to the end of his two and three-year-old racing.
Mach Three has matched his greatness as a racehorse in the siring field, and now his sons and grandsons are achieving distinctions of the same order.
On his dam’s side, Colt Thirty One belongs to one of Australasia’s premier maternal families, that tracing to Browngate Girl. His dam Charm Personified left eight sub 2:00 winners from 10 foals and his grand-dam Charming Reminder left six sub 2:00 winners from 10 foals.
This is the family that produced this year’s NSW Oaks winner Cool And Classy, the Australian and Victoria Oaks winner Cherry Cheer, the Queensland Oaks winner Goldrush Girl, the Triad winners Girl From Ipanema, Rani Major, Racy Roxy and Red Charmer, The Hayden victor Free Thinker and many others.
