The emphatic win of Brighton in the $35,000 Listed Southern Cross Series Final for three-year-old fillies at Globe Derby Park on Saturday night has given our Adelaide Yearling Sale a terrific boost.
A half-sister by Bettor’s Delight to Brighton and the Golden Nursery placegetter Thiswaytothebeach will go under the hammer as Lot 511 at the Gawler auction on Sunday, March 29.
The filly is one of a three-strong draft being presented by Mark Carey’s Hampton Farms.
Brighton, who won the Southern Cross as a two-year-old, has two other close relatives in the sale – both by the great Art Major.
They are fillies from Brighton’s half-sisters in Lot 502, who is out of Logically (by Roll With Joe), and Lot 505, from the lightly raced Western Ideal mare My Logic.
The trio all belong to the family of the dual NZ Cup hero Il Vicolo, the A. G. Hunter Cup winner Stunin Cullen, the millionaire pacer Gotta Go Cullen and the NZ Sires’ Stakes champion It’s All About Faith.
Bay Jim Major and Centrefold Star, who finished runner-up in the Southern Cross four-year-old entries and geldings and two-year-old fillies’ Finals respectively, both have siblings in the sale.
Bay Jim Major, a Southern Cross champion at three, has a full sister by Major Secret as Lot 501 consigned by Steve Norman’s Allenby Lodge Stud, while Centrefold Star, a half-sister to the Southern Cross winner No Notthebuttons, has an Art Major half-sister in Lot 507. She is being offered by prominent south-east breeder-owner Peter Medhurst.
Our Adelaide Yearling Sale will be conducted at the Gawler racing complex on March 29. For further details of these or any other lots in the Adelaide Yearling Sale then check out our Online Catalogue today!
