Ten lucky buyers stand a chance to significantly enhance their prospects of striking gold in Melbourne at the Australian Pacing Gold sales on February 4th, with 10 x $4,000 vouchers to be won.

Not only that but APG are offering to pay the first sustaining fee of $770 for all horses purchased with the HRV voucher. That’s right, buyers are in with the chance to win $4770 worth of value thanks to Australian Pacing Gold partnered by Harness Racing Victoria.

The promotion, Strike Gold with 4K, will arm owners with vouchers that can be put towards purchasing Vicbred horses at the Oaklands Junction sales. Those horses will then have their first sustaining fee paid by APG!

In collaboration with Harness Racing Victoria, the Australian Pacing Gold initiative has garnered support, and HRV CEO Matt Isaacs expressed enthusiasm about the vouchers, highlighting their significance in bolstering the industry.

“This is a great opportunity to encourage owners to come along and get involved, with 119 promising young pacers and trotters to go under the hammer, ready to advance to the next steps of their racing careers,” Isaacs said.

“Breeding is at the heart of our sport, it’s why we have Australia’s best futurity scheme, Vicbred, and it’s why we are eager to support this fantastic concept that will encourage owners to buy their next champions and help newcomers get involved in this great industry.”

This is how it will work:

  • 10 vouchers will be drawn.
  • Each voucher is worth $4000 to put towards the purchase of a horse.
  • Two draws will take place – one lot of five before the first sale and another lot of five before lot 160.
  • To win you must be registered and approved by APG and on-site at the time of the draw.
  • The vouchers can go towards the purchase of any Vicbred horse during the sale.

APG Chairman Robert Marshall said the initiative meant that “opportunity knocked” for owners.

“This exciting APG and HRV initiative will not only encourage ownership in Victorian-bred harness horses, it also supports the breeding industry in Victoria through the strong relationship with HRV’s Vicbred and Vicbred Pure initiatives,” Marshall said.

Harness Breeders Victoria president Nick Hooper said “breeders and owners will be thrilled with this announcement”.

“This is a great way for HRV to support Vicbred yearlings,” Hooper said. “Vicbred is the number one futurity in the country with wonderful bonuses and race series that owners can take advantage of.

“HBV is thrilled that APG is back in the Victorian yearling market, providing choice for our members.  We wish APG, breeders and owners all the best for the sale.”
