Carmen Mifsud is a member of probably the most recognisable Harness Racing Family in Victoria, which includes her sister Rita Burnett and her niece Monique.

Rita and Monique have been given the task of making this Lot 122, a filly by Sweet Lou, look pretty, attractive and gorgeous on Sale Day.

Of course, they will but it has been an easy task as the filly from the Fake Left mare Bronski Gorgeous has been a stunner since the day she was born on 20th November 2022.

Although most of Carmen’s brothers and sisters have been involved in the racing side of the Industry, Carmen developed an interest in the breeding as a young girl when she helped her Dad, Leli, with the broodmares and foals.

Carmen is now breeding from three mares including Bronski Gorgeous, Jilliby Blossom [ by Christian Cullen] and Terror Bull Girl [by Western Terror].

Bronski Gorgeous herself was a brilliant racemare in the Sunshine State winning 23 races and $210,622.  If she was brilliant as a racemare, she is a legend as a Broodmare since retiring to that career in 2005.  She has now produced 11 individual winners who have won 156 races between them and more importantly have put $1,418,000 into their respective owners Bank accounts.

She has three daughters, apart from LOT 122, located in Australia and they are now starting to emulate their Mum with the moderately performed Private Bronski 1.55 already the Dam of the exciting Stakes winner Speak The Truth 1.51.7 $380,677.

Now it appears the ‘secret weapon’ in the production line of Bronski Gorgeous is the stallion Artsplace.  You can see the influence that the son of Artsplace in Art Major has had when bred to Bronski Gorgeous.

Sweet Lou will carry on this blueprint as he is an Artsplace line stallion through Yankee Cruiser and Artiscape.

So, all boxes are ticked so far.  Then you have another Bonus in the sire of LOT 122 – Sweet Lou.

Is there a more “red hot” sire in the World today? The owners of the Captain might argue otherwise but whoever wins the debate, it cannot be denied that Sweet Lou is the stallion to keep that Artsplace blood alive and kicking into the future.

Sweet Lou has just sired his second USTA 2 year old Pacing Filly of the year in Geocentric 1.49.6 – Warrawee Ubeaut 1.48.6 was the first – and he has sired the $250,000 winning fillies in Australia in Double Expresso 1.55.4, Steno 1.51.9 and Zephyra 1.54.5. So, this ticks the final Box for Lot 122.

Come on down to D Barn on Sunday 4th February at the APG sale for a look.  You might just find your jaw dropping.
