Boyanup breeders Solid Gold Standardbreds (SGS) will offer three well bred youngsters in our 2025 Perth Yearling Sale on March 2.
The first offering, Lot 314, is a daughter of outstanding sire American Ideal from the four-time winner Broadbeach (1.57.8, $34K), who won three of her first four starts as a 3YO.
The Somebeachsomewhere mare only finished outside the top five once in 18 starts.
Broadbeach is a half or full sister to six winners, including Duke Of Cornwall (1.49.4, $133K), Group 1 placegetter Duke Of Wellington (1.53.6, $109K) and Duke Of Scotland (1.49.1, $112K).
It is a strong filly family. Broadbeach’s dam, Galleons Honour, is a half sister to NZ Oaks winner Cheer The Lady (1.55.1, $314K) and Galleons Supreme, the dam of NZ 2YO and 3YO filly of the year Spanish Armada (1.52.1, $787K).
This cross has produced Group 1 placegetter Renewal (1.53.4, $160K), who won 10 of her 18 starts as a 2YO and 3YO and was runner-up in the 2023 Vicbred 2YO fillies final.
Solid Gold Standardbreds sold a full sister to the Broadbeach filly for $65,000 at last year’s Perth sale.
The second SGS yearling is Lot 335, a filly by superstar stallion Captaintreacherous from handy race mare Canstar (1.55.7, $54K).
Canstar is a Kiwi bred mare by Bettors Delight who won five races in NZ before being imported to Australia in 2021. This is her second foal.
This filly’s grandam is a half sister to Lavra Florence, the dam of star WA pacer Lavra Joe (1.52.9, $832K).
It is also the family of grand circuit campaigner Anvils Star (1.54.8, $470K) and Golden Nugget and Chariots Of Fire placegetter Ima Rocket Star (1.56.2, $411K).
This cross of Captaintreacherous over Bettors Delight mares has already produced 56 winners in Australia, including smart fillies Eye Believe (1.56, $235K), All You Need Is Me (1.55.6, $158K) and Chevrons Bypass (1.56, $150K).
The third Solid Gold Standardbred youngster in the ring will be Lot 434, a colt by all-conquering sire Always B Miki from WA Oaks placegetter Majorpride (1.58, $139K), who won three races as a 2YO including the Group 1 WA Diamond Classic.
Majorpride’s first live foal, Head Office, was a 2YO winner last season.
This colt’s grandam Pride N Joy is a half sister to star filly Bettor Joy (1.50.2, $613K) and a full sister to dual Group 1 winner Joyfuljoy (1.51.6, $480K).
She is also a half sister to Jumpforjoy, the dam of top flight WA pacer Jumpingjackmac (1.55.2, $954K).
Boyanup horsewoman Jacqueline Prentice runs Solid Gold Standardbreds.
She took over the breeding program after highly respected harness racing owner John Lohman passed away and have continued to build his success.
